Shocker! Omar Abdullah praises Zakir Moosa, Burhan Wani
Ex-CM using slain militants to appease voters?

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 26: One won't be able to find a match of National Conference in duplicity and double-facedness. This was vindicated once again by its vice-president Omar Abdullah who appeased militants in order to hoodwink common masses.
"We have to fight these intrigues. We cannot fight these intrigues while being weak. We need to be powerful. They taunt Farooq Abdullah that he won elections only by securing 10 per cent votes. I would like to tell them that it is a testimony of their failure that only 10 per cent of the population voted," Omar said while addressing a rally in Srinagar.
"There is a danger in boycotting polls. If voters boycott, what happened in Lok Sabha elections may be repeated in assembly elections too and there will be a BJP MLA from Tral, the land of (Zakir) Moosa and Burhan Wani," he said.
This is the clear attempt through which Omar Abdullah has tried to appease the militants and shift the goal posts. "Such an appeasement used to be PDP's policy earlier. Now, NC is trying to fit in its shoes as the party in the recently held parliament polls has dazzled everyone through its performance in South Kashmir- considered earlier as bastion of the PDP," was how a senior scribe working for a New Delhi-based news organisation put the development.
According to him, there will be more such statements heard from the NC as the party believes it can widen its base in the Valley through such tactics.
During the campaigning for the LS polls in Jammu and Kashmir, NC leader and contesting candidate Akbar Lone in open sought help from the militants so that he could win the polls. "I know Omar and Dr Farooq would be angry, but I want to tell you 'tik tik' wala (terrorists), I am talking about you today, when I'm nothing. Tomorrow when I will win, I will talk about you and your cause more. what has happened to you? Why will you go to my workers' place? Why will you harass him? Then he won't vote for me, which means sending BJP candidate to parliament, one who is against your Kashmir cause," Akbar Lone could be heard as saying in a video that has gone viral.
However, there are people who question Omar Abdullah's statement, asking that by praising militant leaders like Burhan Wani and Zakir Moosa, will Omar then legitimise the killings of the security forces which were carried by these militants and their allied outfits in the state?
Ironically, it was Omar Abdullah who in January this year had blamed the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti of using dead terrorists to appease voters. "She used militants by sanctioning their deaths to appease the BJP and now she uses dead militants to try to appease the voter. Just how gullible does she think people are?" Omar had said while reacting to Mehbooba's visit to one of the militant families in south Kashmir this year.
One wonders what Omar Abdullah himself is doing now.
