Chhari Mubarak taken to Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 1: 'Chhari Mubarak', holy silver Mace of Lord Shiva, was taken to historic Shankaracharya temple on the hill of Takhat-e-Suliman in summer capital, Srinagar on Thursday on the occasion of 'Haryali-Amavasya' (Shravan Amavasya) as per the age-old customs, connected with annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of the Chhari Mubarak, led the prayers on the occasion.
A spokesman for the 'The True Trust', founded by Mahant Giri in year 2004 said that in connection with Amarnath Yatra-2019, 'Chhari-Mubarak' was taken to Historic Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar today for prayers on the occasion of 'Haryali-Amavasya' (Shravan Amavasya) as per the age-old customs.
The sound of conch shell reverberated and charged the whole atmosphere. Pujan was performed chanting Vedic hymn. Sizable number of Sadhus and pilgrims who had come from across the country participated in the prayers that lasted for more than 90 minutes. Collective prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of the Jammu & Kashmir State.
'The True Trust', will make all the necessary arrangements like yesteryears for sadhus and pilgrims from across the country to join Chhari-Mubarak Yatra for their food, accommodation and transportation during the pilgrimage.
Mahant Giri ji has also advised sadhus and members of civil society to get themselves registered who intend to join Chhari-Mubarak Yatra and stated that only registered pilgrims with valid Yatra Permit shall be allowed to accompany 'Chhari-Mubarak' during the pilgrimage.
'Chhari-Mubarak' shall be taken to 'Sharika-Bhawani' Temple, Hari Parvat on the hill of Kooh-e-Maran to pay obeisance to the Goddess tomorrow. Shrine of Hazrat Mehboobul-Aalam Mukhdoom Sahib is also located on other side of the hill and Gurdwara Chetipadshahi on the foothill in the downtown Srinagar.
Till date, over 3.40 lakh pilgrims had the darshan of the Shivling at the Holy Cave.
