Heavy rain washes away road link to Mangoo Bowli in Udhampur

Udhampur, Aug 1: The city of Udhampur-named after the Dogra prince Udham Singh, has been gifted with many rich natural resources like bowlis and springs but due to official apathy these springs and bowlis are in dilapidated condition .
According to locals due to sacracity of water these gurgling springs have traditionally been used as the main sources of water by local people since times immemorial. But due to official apathy these bowlis and springs are in bad condition. . There are a number of bowlies in Udhampur which are known for their pure and odour less water and more than 70 % people are dependent upon these bowlis for drinking water.
Suriyansh Dingh a local of told early times that this bowli in Shiv Nagar area known as Mangoo bowli was being used by majority of for drinking water but due to heavy rains from last two days it has damaged Bowli and approach road to it badely due to which people fetching drinking water from here are facing problems. He alleged that despite repeated requests to administration from past year that approach road from cremation ground side is in dilapidated condition.
Raj Kumar a local businessman of Shiv Nagar alleged that neither local ward member and nor any political leaders who made tall claims before elections takes care of only source of drinking water in city.
He added that every one fetches water from here but no one shows concern.
He added that people are suffering with scarcity of drinking water as PHE has failed to mitigate suffering of locals now after damaged to bowli and its link road has further added woes of people .
Mohan Singh and Rakesh Arora said that these bowlis have a special attraction in summer when the other sources of water in the adjoining villages dry up and water supply from the P H E department also becomes erratic. People from as far as two kilometers throng these bowlis in large numberd to fetch water.
Locals have appealed to Governor sp and DC Udhampur for doing the needful.
