| KP religious, social groups resolve Maha Shivratri issue | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 1: Post exodus of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community from Kashmir, the community spread across the globe and this affected it's religious and social life and some conflicts emerged on 'Herat' Maha Shivratri celebrations during last few years. This year again there was every possibility of problem arising as well.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the issue, Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Ambphalla, Jammu organised a conference of religious and social organizations and knowledgeable people on May 26 this year in the Sabha premises which was presided by K.K.Khosa, president of the Sabha. After due deliberations and marathon discussions the conference authorized Khosa to frame a committee under the chairmanship of Pt. O.N. Shastri, Sampadak Vijeshwar Panchang to resolve this problem. Other members nominated for the committee were Puneet Shastri, Vijeshwar Jantri, (Almnac) Dr. R.K.Ganjoo, Brahman Mahamandal, Sanjay Raina a social activist, representatives of Satisar Foundation (Pratinidi), Prof. A.K.Ogra, Ashok Braroo, S. L. Bagati and G.J.Kampassi of K. P. Sabha.
The committee headed by Shastriji met thrice & discussed the issue threadbare keeping in view past practices , conventions open heartedly and agreed unanimously to make future 'Herat' Shivratri celebration on one day, based on practice followed in 1995 Vijeshwar Panchang. As per this direction O. N. Shastri said that this year 'Herat' Shivratri will be celebrated on 20th February 2020. Panchang makers will issue necessary corrigendum for K P community living across the globe. |
