Jammu, Nov 1: Kritika Khanna, daughter of the soil becomes the first female Para-Rower to bring laurels to the Country and more importantly to Jammu & Kashmir. In recently contested Asian Para-Rowing Championship-2019 held at Cheongju, South Korea, local lass Kritika Khanna represented India in team event designated as PR3Mix4+.Team India won bronze medal, the first for the country in the event.
An alumna of Presentation Convent School, Jammu and currently working as an Assistant Manager in J&K Grameen Bank gives the entire credit to her team mates for their collective effort. Brimming with happiness she conveyed that more than the medal, it was the proud moment when she held the Tricolour afloat on podium which gave her goose bumps. She further shared her experience about the training sessions which were very tough due to only two shortened training camps. She remembers the extreme climate at the championship venue where that it was around one degree C when the final race took place. She had all the praises and thanked her mentor Col. Gaurav Dutta, the only para triathlete in the Country. According to her, Col. Gaurav Dutta surfed extensively over the internet to short list the team and further invited them to be part of Team India. He had arranged all the training facilities for the participants at Pune Maharashtra. She also conveyed her highest thanks to the Rowing Federation of India which showed faith in the team who won Country's first medal in para rowing in international arena. She seems to be fully confident to bring more laurels for the State and the Nation in the times to come.
