Srinagar, Nov 7: Aryans College of Law, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh organized a seminar on "Role of Lokpal in Eradicating Corruption in India" at its Campus. Justice Vinod Kumar Sharma, Lokpal Punjab was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function. The function started with a lamp lighting ceremony and a welcome prayer. The function was attended by Professionals, academicians, Law Professionals and people from different walks of life.
Vinod Kumar Sharma while discussing the role of Lokpal said that Lokpal is appointed to hold an effective inquiry against the high ups in the hierarchy like Ministers, MLAs, MPs so as to eradicate corruption. Sharma further said that Lokpal is to look into the allegation of corruption against public men including Municipal Corporation, Municipal Community, Nagar Panchayat, the Chairmen of the Govt Companies and other elected members so the misconduct by any person of above officials can be enquired by the Lokpal. Sharma further added that the Lokpal has its competent to hold in-depth inquiry and for the purpose, the act provides a resolution from the agencies besides the fact that an officer of the rank of DGP attached with the Lokpal to carry out an effective inquiry.
