JAMMU, Dec 30: The footpaths have been illegally occupied by the some shopkeepers as well as street vendors, much to the discomfiture of commuters and vehicles in the Roop Nagar, Bantalab, Muthi and its adjoining area.
Locals told that the shopkeepers in every nook and corner in the area display most of their merchandise on the front portion of the shops occupying the footpath. Neither the police nor officials, take cognizance of such illegal practices which has been going rampantly for last some months.
They further added that these senseless shopkeepers and vendors choke the movement of traffic, causing inconvenience to the common people. They do not know the rules and just place their goods on the roads which disturb movement, pedestrians and vehicles. The concerned authorities should take action against the vendors or a lot space for them.
SDPO Domana Koshen Koul said that the matter has been come under their notice and instructions have been issued in this regard and strict action would be taken against violators. |
