Despite reservation by senior leaders Sangh Parivar adamant to continue Raina as president | | | Jammu, December 30: After ignoring wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu region on domicile issue, a faction within Sangh Parivar is adamant to impose its blue-eyed boy as president of BJP of UT of J&K. Despite reservations shown by some senior leaders, this faction has taken a tough stand that incumbent president Ravinder Raina to continue as president and there is no need to select any other president. Credible sources said that during their meeting with P Murlidhar Rao and V Deodhar senior leaders were divided on the name of party president. Rao along with national secretary of the party V Deodhar was deputed by the high command to take all senior leaders into confidence before finalising the name of the first party president of the J&K UT. Credible sources said all senior leaders were not on the same page on the name of the president, so the representatives of the high command were finding it difficult to evolve a consensus. Both the leaders had one on one meeting with some senior leaders to seek their opinion but there was no consensus on name of president. Both Rao and Deodhar would submit their report to the national president and other senior leaders.
Credible sources said serious differences had developed among senior leaders on the name of the new president. Although some veteran leaders have warned that imposing a state president by ignoring views of the cadre will prove counterproductive for the party in future, some leaders of Sangh Parivar have made a prestige to continue Raina as president.
