REASI, Feb 1: Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib today planted fruit trees in backyard of Panchayat Ghar Seela. The trees were planted on the occasion of Backyard Horticulture programme conducted by the Horticulture Department.
In a public meeting organised on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged the people to grow more fruit trees to help preserve the environment and for providing nutritious home-grown fruits to kids. She also asked people to take up cultivation of lemongrass, which is highly profitable cash crop and is not harmed by monkeys. She also distributed fruit trees among the locals at a nominal price.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Mukesh Sharma, BDC Chairperson Block Reasi Parveen Begum, Sarpanch Seela among other PRI members and locals were also present at the occasion. |
