JAMMU, Feb 1: Displaying extraordinary skills and showing composure, serenity and promise, Jammu and Kashmir players continued their brilliance to help the Union Territory lead the medal tally on day-3 of the ongoing 65th National School Games Under-14 and Under-17 Boys and Girls in Sqay Martial Art, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, under the banner of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
The Championship is being held under the overall supervision of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports, while the matches are being conducted by a panel of experts drawn from SGFI and the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Jammu and Kashmir is so far leading with 10 medals, with 6 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, while Odisha was at number-2 spot with 6 medals including 1 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze. Delhi and Maharashtra were at 3rd and 4th place respectively with 5 medals each, while Madhya Pradesh was at 5th position with 4 medals.
Earlier, in Under-14 boys 29 kg, Hardik Mehra of Delhi won gold, Sheikh Hanan of J&K bagged silver, while Rajinder Singh of Rajasthan and Hardik Gayinki of Maharashtra claimed bronze.
In Under-14 boys 37 kg, Mohammad Hadi of J&K clinched gold, Vardhan Choudhary of Delhi bagged silver, while the bronze medals were shared by Shivam Tiwari of DAV and R Marimathu of Andoman & Nicobar. In Under-17 boys 40 kg, Shubham Raj Ali of Madhya Pradesh clinched gold, SK Isham of Odisha bagged silver, while Shemsher Singh of J&K and Omkar Sherkella of Maharashtra claimed bronze medals, while in Under-17 boys 48 kg, Hazim Altaf of J&K won gold, Harpreet Singh of Punjab bagged silver and the bronze went to Fazil Khan of Odisha and Vikas Kumar of Delhi.
In Under-17 boys Open, Owais Mushtaq of J&K clinched gold, Lakshay Tushar of Delhi bagged silver, while the bronze medals were shared by Samtyant Singh of Madhya Pradesh and Yash Atara of Gujarat.
In Under-14 girls 31 kg, thwe gold and silver medals went to Sonali Patil of Maharashtra and Sadhna Pandey of Madhya Pradesh respectively, while B Drishya of Andoman & Nicobar and Hadiqa Jan of J&K claimed bronze medals, while in Under-14 girls 39 kg, Samia Manzoor of J&K won gold, Rumakaita of Assam clinched silver, while the bronze was shared by Harjeet Kour of Punjab abd Nafisha Begum of Odisha.
In Under-17 girls 36 kg, Nasiha Begum of Odisha won gold, Rafiya Riyaz of J&K bagged silver, while Trisha Dawan of Punjab and Rutija Karad of Maharashtra claimed bronze.
In Under-17 girls 40 kg, Mehvish Majeed of J&K clinched gold, Gouri Gokhale of Maharashtra won silver, while the bronze medals were claimed by Farhat Begum of Odisha and Bhumika Grover of Delhi.
In Under-17 girls 56 kg, Amina Ahmed of J&K won silver, while the bronze medals went to Purnima Singh of Odisha and G Mamtha of Andoman & Nicobar. |
