Northern Command bids farewell to GOC-in-C Lt Gen Ranbir Singh

Jammu, Feb 1: Northern Command bids adieu to Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh on Saturday after an illustrious tenure as Army Commander giving strategic direction to the Northern Army.
The General had taken over command of the prestigious Northern Command on Jun 1, 2018.
While addressing all ranks in Udhampur and the field formations, through video conferencing, the General officer exhorted all ranks to continue to work with the same zeal and motivation. The Army Commander stressed upon professionalism and the uniqueness of military profession.
He further emphasised on the need to strengthen military ethos and the added responsibility that officers have towards the men they command. He appreciated efforts of all ranks for their immense professionalism and dedication in carrying out their tasks under trying circumstances.
Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh also complimented and thanked the civil administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CAPF for the excellent synergy with the Army towards the pursuit of common goal of establishing “Peace & Tranquility” in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
The General officer laid a wreath at the Dhruva War Memorial to pay his tributes to the brave martyrs of Northern Command.
Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh made lasting contributions towards National Security orchestrating a synergised effort of Armed Forces in the two UTs with other security forces and the civil administration. During his 40 years stint in Army, the General officer has taken unparalleled measures towards operational planning and execution of strategic tasks as also national integration.
The General’s visit to several foreign countries during his service period including tenures as part of UN missions and recent leading of the delegation to China will continue to impact Army’s efforts towards border management. Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh conceptualized, controlled and monitored the 2016 Surgical Strike at the Line of Control and 2015 Indian counter-insurgency operations in Myanmar.
A seasoned professional with four decades of military leadership in the field of National Security, Planning and Management of Military Operations at National level, Disaster Management, Macro-level training of Indian Army and management of conventional & sub-conventional conflict in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh under High Altitude as well as Super High Altitude terrain conditions, Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh will continue to inspire the future generations of army officers to emulate his sterling qualities, firm resolve to follow the righteous path under all circumstances, sense of justice and strategic thinking as a General and statesman.
