Unemployed youth volunteers seek ban on coaching by Government teachers, lecturers

Jammu, Feb 1: The educated unemployed youths under the banner of Imdad (Help) Educational Trust today demanded for implementation of blanket ban imposed by the government on the private coaching by the government employees including Teachers, Masters, Lecturers, Assistant Professors and Professors.
Speaking to Early Times, the representatives of Imdad Education Trust told that as a part of humble initiative by educated youth of the district Kishtwar to help the poor students in achieving their dreams.
“We identify really poor and meritorious students and called them dreamers”, they said and added that the present nexus of some government employees, their initiative is facing stumbling block.
They said that to overcome the various issues, the Imdad Educational Trust Kishtwar aims to establish, support, acquire, run and grant aid and other financial assistance to schools, colleges, libraries, reading rooms, hospitals, hostels, and other institutions of like nature at any place or places in the District Kishtwar for use of the students and the staff and also generally for the development and advancement of education and dissemination of knowledge amongst the public in general. But some of the Govt employees that includes education department, PMGSY, R&B, Veterinary and J&K bank are giving luxury education at private coaching institutes minting money from the students including poor ones-besides being a government employee, in contravention to service rules-Some government school teachers and lecturers of education department, Bank Associate of J&K bank, Assistant Engineer of PMGSY, Junior Engineer of R&B, Veterinary Pharmacist of veterinary department Kishtwar are giving the private tuition at private coaching institute in violation to J&K Govt employees (conduct rules 1971) Rule-10 and J&K classification, Control & Appeal rule 1956 and section 28 of Right to education which is a fundamental right.
They said that the Section 28 of Right to education states that “Prohibits private tuition by teachers. Private tuition is one of the ill affecting Indian educations, which need to be addressed.
This provision will ensure that teachers do not use their position for commercial gain through private tuition, which is a source of harassment to children and parents” In the era when Imdad Educational trust Kishtwar aim to improve the education standard in the Kishtwar, at the same time-Some of the govt employees are violating the section 28 of the Right to education which is a fundamental right thus degrading the education standard in district Kishtwar.
As per the provision of the fundamental right RTE and the price hikes of coaching institutes, students and parents are being harassed, that needs to be addressed.
“A circular regarding this matter must be issued by the director school education Jammu and district administration Kishtwar-as it is the prime responsibility of the both to implement the mechanism of the Right to education on grounds“ they appealed.
