Young man who helped in catching militant’s associate remain unrewarded

Jammu, Feb 4: The brave young man who helped police in catching an associate of militant at Nagrota by using his presence of mind remained unrewarded from the police as well as from administration.
Putting his life at risk, Avinash Sharma, who works at NHIA Nagrota, caught associate of militant, who were neutralized by security forces at Nagrota Jammu recently. While recalling the incident, Avinash Sharma told Early Times that said that on the incident day, the associate of militants came towards me to seek my help as he was on job at that time at Nagrota on National Highway. “Initially I was unaware of his identity, his condition was by bad and he sought my help and I took him to the room and offered him water and tea. During conversation, I came to know that he must be a militant. His activities were suspicious as he was trying to delete some pictures from his mobile and when I enquired about it he escaped replies,” Avinash Sharma said.
He further said that he told his friend about it and asked him to inform the police and meanwhile he continued to engage the associate of militant in conversations. “Soon a team of police came along with police officer.s and arrested the alleged associate and took him to police station,” he said.
Although police officers lauded my courage and took my detail but till date no representative from government has come to meet me, which has disheartened me, he said.
Avinash Sharma, while conversation, with ET expressed his strong desire to serve in police department. “It has been my aim to be in police department but somehow could not get job in police. I want to serve for my state, country if police provide me a job in the department,” he said.
