Sunderbani, Feb 4: Despite having enormous talent possibilities among the young lot of Rajouri district in the field of sports, the efforts of talented children’ to sharpen their skills have been going waste in absence of sports infrastructure in the area due to apathetic attitude of the concerned administration as well as the government.
Sources told Early Times that there is no indoor or outdoor sports stadium for the children of the district due to which they remain deprived of the special trainings to excel in various sports fields.
Recently, four young children brought laurel for the district by winning medals in the National Dance Sports Championship, which held in West Bengal in the month of January 2020, without any government support . Among four participants, who are resident of Sunderbani, three were girls, who showed their talent in the championship and earned accolade for the State by winning two gold medals, one silver and one bronze medal. Apart from dance sports, these children are also very good actors.
Mitali Sharma won gold in free style competition in the above said championship. The other who participated in the competition and won medals were Aniket Sharma, Rishika Nandni, and Damini Sharma.
These children, despite being from border area remained stick to their goals and continued their practice in unfavourable conditions. “There is no dearth of talent in the border district but due to absence of adequate facilities, proper platform, counselling, these talent don’t get right direction and their talent remain utilized. Despite Pak shelling in this area every coming day, we reached at this place by dint of hard work,” said Mitali Sharma.
She further said that she had to face lot of difficulties in pursuing dance sports in this male dominant society, where girls are not given space to excel in sports but we fought against these forces and achieved honor. “There is dire need of Government’s helps to nurture the budding talents of the district. The credit of our achievement goes to the management of our school Harsh Niketan School. The Managing Director of school, Ishan Sharma helped us a lot to shape our talent for national competition” she said.
