Dr Samoon, Ab Majid Bhat listen to public grievances

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 05: The government is committed to redress long pending public issues and grievances of the people by providing them all basic infrastructure within a stipulated time frame.

This was stated by the Principal Secretary Animal & Sheep Husbandry and Transport Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, while responding to the demands projected by deputations and individuals during public grievance redressal hearing held today, here at PWD Guest House Gandhi Nagar. Secretary Cooperative and Tribal Affairs Department, Abdul Majid Bhat also listened to issues of the public on the occasion. Additional Secretary Floriculture, Prerna Raina attended the camp on behalf of Commissioner Secretary, Floriculture, Parks and Gardens.

A large number of deputations and individuals met with the Administrative Secretaries and projected varied problems being faced by them in their particular areas and sought immediate redress of the same.

A deputation of Ex Servicemen sought possession of plots allotted to them by the Cooperative Society Jammu at Sainik Colony area.

A deputation of Gujjar and Bakkerwal community from Samba demanded construction of girls hostel and Community Hall to facilitate the twin communities. They also demanded political reservation for the Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities.

A deputation from Doda district, led by Sarpanch of Pancheri Panchayat, sought construction of a Veterinary Dispensary in the area. Another deputation of Dairy Farmers from Phallian, Mandal and R S Pura areas submitted a memorandum of demands which included insurance cover for cattle; provision for equipments to dairy farmers on subsidize rates and increasing the rate of milk and Milk products.

Meanwhile, a large number of individuals also met with the Administrative Secretaries and highlighted demands and problems being faced by them in their respective areas. The demands mainly related to repair and construction of lanes, drains and culverts, provision for clean drinking water, uninterrupted power supply and improvement of health and other facilities in their areas.

The Administrative Secretaries asked the visitors to encourage other people as well to project their genuine grievances and help administration to contour the developmental needs of their respective areas.

On the occasion, Dr Asgar Samoon also appealed to the interested unemployed youth to apply for opening of pollution checking centres, for which they can contact the concerned quarters in their respective districts.

The Administrative Secretaries gave a patient hearing to the deputations and assured them that all their genuine demands would be met at the earliest.

On several issues of public importance requiring immediate action, they gave on the spot directions to the concerned authorities for taking necessary action.

Director Floriculture, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed; Regional Transport Officer Jammu Dhananter Singh; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Akhnoor, Gopal Singh and other concerned officers were also present.
