Jammu, Feb 11: The senior KAS officers of UT administration have hailed the decision of government to remove the unqualified (undergraduate) district magistrate from one of important districts.
It is pertinent to mention that one undergraduate Junior Assistant of Revenue department got initially the posting in personal section of some minister in Secretariat and then managed accelerated promotions out of way leaving his counterparts behind.
When the said officer rose to the level of private secretary, he got the amendments in KAS rules and in relaxation of rules managed induction into time scale of KAS in violation of rules.
As per sources, the affected officers raised this issue but the government from time to time did not pay any attention as the officer remained always in personal sections of Chief Minister’s, Governor and due to intimacy with the officials of General Administration Department always managed orders of his choice and favoured one particular set of employees.
In a bizarre incident in the history of transfers and postings during the governors rule, the officer managed posting as Deputy commissioner in one important district and the govt didn't revert it despite opposition from the cadre. Interestingly the officers were opposing the postings of junior officers on higher posts.
It is further learnt that the KAS association and other senior officers of the cadre had recently met the lieutenant Governor and apprised about the mess in cadre and illegal and arbitrary transfers in last one and half year and demanded cleansing in administration. |
