Com/Secy Floriculture inspects ongoing works in Jammu City parks

JAMMU, Feb 15: Commissioner Secretary Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad today toured Bagh-e-Bahu, Green Belt, and took stock of ongoing works there.
He asked the Director Floriculture Jammu, Kishore Singh Chib to facilitate the devotees with best quality flowers which would be needed by them during the upcoming Shivratri festival.
He asked the Executive Engineer Floriculture, Kabir Shah to expedite the work on upgradation and beatification of the Bagh E Bahu garden. It was informed that as part of the extension of the park Amphi Theater, an open circular or oval building, with a central space surrounded by tiers of seats for spectators is being constructed outside the garden. The place would be used for presentation of dramatic or sporting events with 175 sitting arrangement for the visitors, especially for kids.
The Secretary gave instruction for planting of variety of seasonal flowers in Green belt parks and Gardens to add to their beauty and restoration of defunct lights so that people residing there may not have any kind of inconvenience.
He directed the concerned officials to make cooling storage functional at earliest at BC Park so that flower vendors may get benefit from it. He stressed on proper upkeep of parks and gardens by installing more dustbins, sitting benches and rubber matting for children so that they enjoy at such places.
While inspecting the theme based gardens at Bagh E Bhour, it was given that out of 235 Kanal of land, over 50 kanal land of garden has been targeted for developing as Theme Garden.
It was informed that over 100 colorful varieties of Bougain Villa flowers have been planted with Dailia variety of flowers, while a Musical Fountain is also being built for attraction of the tourists. Swings and other attractions would also be installed for the enjoyment of the kids.
