Commissioner Excise reviews functioning of Department

JAMMU, Mar 13: In order to gear-up the field functioning of the Excise Department, the Commissioner Excise Rajesh Kumar Shavan took a detailed review of the department. The Deputy Excise Commissioners Executive, Distilleries and Accounts attended the meeting along with concerned ETO’s and Inspectors.
While deliberating upon the issue of drug menace, the Commissioner directed the officers to intensify the checking and lay random Nakas/Checks in their areas of jurisdiction.
He exhorted the officers to work with dedication and zeal to realize the revenue targets and directed to ensure that not even a single penny loss to the State exchequer should occur. Besides, the revenue realization, the aspect of under-served and un-served areas was also discussed and the ETO’s were directed to come up with fresh proposals in the interest of the Government, so that illegal distillation and bootlegging is arrested.
It was enjoined upon the officers to strengthen their teams of checkings and regularly inspect the establishments to detect all sort of mal practices.
Meanwhile, as a sequel to the instructions, the enforcement team of Excise, conducted raids at 8 locations in Jammu city to check violation of the Act. After checks it was observed that two wine shops viz. Sunny Wine Shop and Raj Wine Shop have breached the license condition and accordingly were booked under Excise Act. Further one Banquet hall namely Shiv Shakti Palace for serving liquors meant for CSD was also booked. Those who conducted the raids included Nipin Tickoo, ETO Excise Range South, Narinder Singh Anthal, ETO Eradication assisted by Inspectors Bikramjeet Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Susheel Khajuria and Anil Kumar.
