Banihal Hospital faces shortage of doctors, required immediate Govt attention

Banihal, Mar 20: The condition of the Sub District Hospital Banihal situated on every busy Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and is considered as life line for not only for the local people, but also to lakhs of passengers traveled on the National Highway that mostly remain closed leaving several patients stranded many a time is mocking at the government authorities as this Sub District Hospital faces acute shortage of the doctors and due to non availability of the doctors, the hospital itself is like a “lost sickness“
The people visiting Sub District Hospital were seen waiting for sympathetic help from the authorities for bringing and end to the sick face hardships faced by the people.
The new Banihal Sub District hospital started functioning in the month of November 2009 and since then the successive government fail to provide the basic facilities to the people.
The operation theatre which made functional some two years ago is paralysed since last year due to non availability of a Anaesthesia doctor in the hospital as a result of which the Poor people are face severe hardships.
In addition to the non availability of doctors, child specialists, general physicians and radiologists too are not remain available for the people and patients during emergency are being referred for operation to different hospitals in Srinagar or Jammu while at the same time many Patients are being forced to visit private hospitals.
Speaking to Early Times, people demanded that the Operation theater in Banihal should start working without any delay so that the poor patients once again visit the hospital to get treatment.
The poor people of Banihal expressed their grief and anger over the deteriorating condition of the hospital.
The people made an appeal to the government to ensure the presence of doctors at Sub District Hospital Banihal beside urge to improve the hospital system so that no poor or helpless person will have to wait for treatment.
