3/20/2020 10:23:01 PM

Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday approved implementation of a scheme for dairy cooperative societies with the support of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
The administrative council, headed by Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu, accorded sanction to the scheme that endeavours to boost milk production in the Union territory by empowering dairy cooperative societies with easy financial assistance.
The credit can be used for production, processing and marketing including purchase of animals, rearing, augmenting their capacities and creation of infrastructure to undertake marketing activities, an official spokesman said.
Under the scheme, he said the government would provide 50 per cent of the loan and 20 per cent of the share capital to the beneficiary cooperative societies.
"A subsidy of 25 percent shall also be provided by the government to the beneficiaries and owners contribution in the scheme will be only 5 per cent. The scheme with the sponsorship of NCDC shall facilitate establishment of integrated dairy projects with the provision for technical inputs for farmer's organisations, mobile veterinary care and artificial insemination," the spokesman said.
For smooth implementation of the scheme, the spokesman said an apex level monitoring committee to be headed by the Registrar Cooperative Societies, Jammu and Kashmir and Additional Registrars of the Division as its members would also be constituted.
