Harsh terms Union’ claim of transparency, corruption free system in JK totally hollow

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 20: Describing the recently passed budget for J&K by the Union Parliament as ‘old wine in new bottle’, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Harsh Dev Singh said that it had failed to inspire the various aspirational groups in J&K.
He said that lots of hopes had been generated amongst the masses that the first Budget post Art 370 abrogation would spring several surprises for the common masses besides offering new opportunities of development and growth in the new UT. Expectations had been aroused amongst the unemployed, the under employed, the contractual, DRWs, the farmers, the Panchayats, local bodies, the remote areas besides other segments of society that the centre would unfold newer vistas and bonanzas for their specific development in the Budget which however eluded them.
While there was hardly anything to offer to the contractual and Daily wagers, the Budget had merely re-iterated the repeated statement made by several central leaders after August 5 for creation of 50,000 jobs. The total allocation of Rs. 1 lakh crore for the year 2020-21 had also remained almost the same in view of the budgetary allocation of 95,000 crore for the previous year.
Strongly refuting the statement of the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman made in reply to debate on Budget in the Parliament over J&K affairs, Singh said that the central leadership appeared to be mislead over the prevalent situation in the erstwhile state.
Ridiculing the Union FM’s statement that complete transparency had been established in J&K and corruption had been removed, Singh said that it only indicated the BJP leadership’s penchant for self aggrandizement, self adulation and self promotion.
Rather than patting its own backs and harping on self certified corruption free system in the new UT, it needed to awaken to the stark reality wherein the corrupt mafia had virtually taken over in J&K. With development funds continuing to get siphoned without any visible ground impact and transfer Industry having grown by leaps and bounds, the new J&K seemed to have amply qualified for the top slot amongst the corruption ridden States/UTs.
And while the slogans of strengthening anti graft bodies continued to be parotted by the rulers, the political bigwigs in the erstwhile BJP-PDP regime appeared to have been granted immunity despite their stinking past and shady deals while in govt. He said that while the tainted BJP leaders enjoyed immunity for obvious reasons, the leaders of PDP were also purged of all their sins on having joined a saffron sponsored party.
Further questioning the claims of the FM over democratic decentralization and creation of Panchayat and local bodies, Singh regretted that slogans of their empowerment had also proved hollow in view of non implementation of provisions 73rd and 74th constitutional Amendments in the new UT. He lampooned the centre for inordinate delay in restoration of popular govt in J&K and added that it alone could address the aspirations of the people. A people friendly Budget can be given only by a peoples govt, asserted Singh.
