Jammu, Mar 20: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Mukesh Singh has directed all the district police heads to take action against rumour mongers, who are spreading fake news on social media about COVID-19 in Jammu, which is creating fear among the general public.
While talking to Early Times, IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh said that rumour mongers to face strict action by the police.
“It has been reported that few anti social elements are trying to spread rumours on social mediate about detection of more cases of COVID- 19 in Jammu, which were proved fake and strict action shall be taken against persons spreading such rumours,” he said.
IGP Jammu issued directions to the all SSPs to keep strict watch on such elements who are misusing social media to create panic among the people in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the police and not to forward such messages or videos and asked them to confirm things before believing and sharing
