4/17/2020 9:32:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 17: The Kisans are facing lot of difficulties in absence of labour for harvesting wheat crop and having no market for wheat in view of Nationwide lockdown, said Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, former Minister in a press statement, issued here today, as Nation is fighting joint war against Covid-19.
Kisans are fully cooperating the administration to fight war against Corona virus and to make lockdown a success so that chain of the Corona Virus could be broken. He emphasized that it is high time that government should come forward to the rescue of the farmers and in order to save Kisans from another damage of crop as Kisans have already suffered a great loss due to damage of last three crops.
Sadhotra said neither Kisan got Crop Insurance nor adequate relief from the government for his damage of his three consecutive crops and Kisans are in distress condition. Kisan is also facing fiscal crisis. Labour normally comes from other parts of the country for harvesting but due to Nationwide Lockdown, Labour is not coming and Kisans are facing lot of difficulties.
He has demanded for providing wheat harvesting machines for harvesting. And wheat should be procured at door steps of Kisans at market rates so that Kisans may not feel any difficulty in harvesting and selling their wheat crop. Thus Kisan could be saved from further anxieties and burdens.
Sadhotra also expressed his concern over the harassment of Vegetable Producers and Milk Sellers who are facing lot of difficulties in selling Vegetables and Milk in the market. He has taken up the matter with Divisional Commissioner Jammu and asked to direct all the concerned authorities to allow Vegetable growers and Milk Sellers to come to the market and sell their Farm produce hassle free. As Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had categorically in its guidelines since lockdown-1 have said that the movement of Vegetables, Milk and other Essentials should be hassle free. Divisional Commissioner has assured Sadhotra that effective measures will be taken to ensure hassle free movement of Vegetables, Milk and other Essentials to the market.
