Kupwara: Pharmacist suspended for refusing to serve food to COVID-19 patients; 44 test negative

KUPWARA, Apr 17: A pharmacist deployed at quarantine center in Kupwara was suspended on Friday, for refusing to serve food to COVID-19 patients, while as 44 samples tested negative in the district today.
According to reports the pharmacist was suspended by the district administration for refusing to serve food to COVID-19 patients and others in quarantine lodged at designated center in Kupwara.
The Chief Medical Officer Kupwara had sought action against the erring official and subsequently a suspension order was issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
The suspended official will be probed for his misconduct and pending the enquiry report, he has been attached with the office of SDM Karnah.
Meanwhile the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg, told Early Times that the pharmacist was suspended for his unruly behavior.
Meanwhile, officials said that reports of 44 persons, whose samples were taken in Kupwara came negative this afternoon.
" I request all to cooperate with field surveillance teams, home delivery of essential commodities including ration, LPG, vegetables, groceries and cash through mobile vans to continue in all Red Zones to avoid any inconvenience to locals," said DC Kupwara.
The DC Kupwara also to take over seven Rest houses comprising 31 rooms to be utilized as Quarantine Centers for the staff of Health Department deployed at COVID-19 Hospital Kupwara.
These rest houses are located at Chandigam, Khumriyal, Reshiwari Nowgam, Thayan Kalaroos, Baripora near Environment Hall, Lachi Qalamabad and Baripora Handwara.
Moreover, 2 hotels comprising 14 rooms in Kupwara town, already under possession of Chief Medical Officer are being utilized by doctors for their quarantine period after completing their assigned shift in COVID Hospital.
The concerned officers and hoteliers have been directed to handover the accommodations to Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara for further utilization with immediate effect along with the staff posted at the locations. They have also been directed to ensure sanitization and fumigation of their respective premises on a regular basis as per the protocol prescribed by the Health authorities.
