PS Thathri, SHO residence, IB office evacuated after landslide threat

KISHTWAR, May 8: Due to incessant rains since last couple of weeks, the authorities in Sub-Division Thathri have decided to vacate several government office buildings as a threat of landslides is looming large in the area.
The buildings that have been evacuated included the Police Station Thathri, residential quarter of SHO Thathri, IB office and office of the SSB unit along with few houses late last night after the landslide threat aggravated near under construction Thatri-Phigsoo road.
While talking to Early Times, SDM Thathri, Athar Amin Zargar confirmed the evacuation of police personnel from Police Station Thathri building as well as also the shifting of the SSB unit stationed in Thathri to safer places last evening after the landslide and shooting stone triggered from Thatri- Phigsoo road threatened the area and damaged IB building situated inside the Police Station Thathri complex.
Zargar said that he along with officials of PMGSY and other allied departments after visiting the spot issued on spot instructions to police and concerned departments to evacuate the police station Thathri building, SHO quarter and some adjoining residences that could be under the threat of landslide.
He said thwat the removal of the mud, boulders and landslide is underway since morning adding that the situation is being monitored. He said that no movement of civilians is being allowed in the area and same will be permitted once the situation becomes feasible.
