Early Times Report

Kishtwar, May 8: The officials in this hilly district were caught in a quandary after major goof up in COVID-19 test at a laboratory in Udhampur.
According to the test report 10 persons from the district were shown positive for the deadly virus, but later the reports turned out to be negative.
As per the details available with Early Times, on Monday night alarm bells start ringing in the district as the health officials started rushing to quarantine centers to identify the 10 persons who had reportedly tested positive for the COVID-19.
It was around 2 am in the morning when all the 10 suspects were identified and shifted to District Hospital isolation ward. A team of doctors immediately rushed to the hospital for medical examination of the suspects. The developments were being personally monitored by DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara who was in constant touch with the Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar to ensure that all necessary steps and precautionary measures are put in place to deal with the situation.
A strategy was worked out to tackle the problem to prevent the situation from going out of hand.
As the day advanced, the teams at District Hospital Kishtwar started preparing the kits for collection of individual samples of the 10 suspects kept in District Hospital Kishtwar isolation ward to ascertain how many persons were infected.
After the samples were collected — they were sent to command hospital for testing— the heartbeat and BP of senior officials started picking up with each passing hour and finally after two days long wait— All the 10 samples reported negative— the result of which was conveyed to District Administration and Kishtwar Hospital authorities last Thursday evening.
As soon as the negative reports of all the 10 samples were conveyed to concerned officials — the administration and the people who were keeping an eye on the development erupted in joy and the previous report was termed as major goof up at Udhampur sample collection unit.
Speaking to Early Times, senior officials refused to comment on goof up at Udhampur sample collection by saying that “all is well” as Kishtwar continues to be in green zone along with Doda District.
The officials said that now onwards all the tests will be conducted at Thatri. “Stay Home-Stay Safe” is the message from Kishtwar Administration to its people.
