ABVP demands to revoke order of opening higher educational institutions
5/8/2020 11:58:05 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 8: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Kashmir has demanded to revoke the order issued by Govt of UT of Jammu Kashmir for opening all higher educational institution across J&K with immediate effect.
To project its demand, the ABVP today submitted a memorandum of demands to HRD Minister, Home Secretary (MHA), Chairman University Grants Commission, Lieutenant Governor Jammu Kashmir Union Territory and Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
In the Government order no. 234-JK(HE) of 2020, in which the Higher Education Secretary has ordered the Colleges and Universities to be operative with 30% Staff on Rotational Basis and Scholar to resume their lab work, is a violation of guidelines issued by MHA, of complete lockdown in Red Zones, reasonable restrictions in Orange Zone, but it is clearly instructed by the guidelines of MHA that the educational institutions shall not be made functional till May 17.
The ABVP said that scholars in Jammu University, SMVDU, Central University, SKUAST-J, Sanskrit University and other universities are not from a single district and some are from other states as well, so to resume scholar working, to start hostel facility for them will be first priority of the Universities, but this will be a violation of COVID19 Protocols. Second, the staff of the universities is also from different districts, so a number of inter-district pass and availability of public transport for them will be another job which the government will have to manage and to allow public transport in Red Zone areas will be a threat in calling for the University Campus. ABVP demand that on reasonable grounds order no. 234-JK(HE) of 2020 shall be revoked in its eternity.
