EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 13: Inspired by the views of our Prime Minister of Self-reliant India, Indian Institute of Technology Jammu is continuing their noble initiative of providing low-cost PPEs to Army, Police, CRPF and healthcare workers. Today IIT Jammu team; Prof Chandan Ghosh, Dr Vijay Pal, Dr Neha Sharma, Dr Karunika with some student volunteers visited ASCOMS hospital, Sidhra Jammu to handover the PPE face shields developed by IIT Jammu students. Prof Chandan Ghosh and Dr Vijay Pal discussed the underlined principles and features with hospital staff Dr. Pavan Malhotra in presence Dr Rajesh Gupta, Professor & Head, Orthopedics and Dr Rabinder Rattanpal, Medical Superintendent. Few face shields have been handed over to Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principle ASCOMS Hospital for the feedback for future development of this product. These face shields can be manufactured for mass production because injection moulding was adopted to make the light weighted components of this PPE. Hospital staff reviewed and appreciated the noble gestures extended by the IIT fraternity by providing certain inputs on further innovations. Dr Karunika and Dr Neha told the ASCOMS team regarding the upcoming developments in Positive-Pressure Respiratory System (PPRS), UV sanitization chambers, and some other products which will be delivered to them as soon as they are developed.
