Early Times Report

Jammu, May 13: President of Hotel & Restaurant Association Patnitop, Harcharan Singh has requested the J&K administration to reconsider its decision to turn hotels at Patnitop into quarantine centers.
In a statement here Singh said, “Patnitop area has been under lockdown since March 16 2020. It has remained COVID-19 free area till date due to the efforts of the administration. No case has been reported till date.”
“Patnitop area falls under a rural area and faces all the concerns that a backward rural area faces.
There is no hospital facility around and until 20 Kms and no paramedic aid in case of any contingency. The people around are illiterate being villagers and most of the hotel staff is not so educated to handle this pandemic situation.
If once due to negligence the infection is spread it will be highly difficult to cope up with the same,” Singh said.
“Moreover, the meeting held on 11th May 2020 between the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India and Hon'ble Chief Ministers of all the States clearly shows his major concern is to ensure that there shouldn't be any spread of infection specifically in rural areas in India. Since, Patnitop falls in rural area. It is very difficult to bring awareness amongst the local public to be cautious of this pandemic.
Therefore we request you to kindly reconsider the order for making quarantine centers in Patnitop area.”
