Early Times Report

MENDHAR, May 13: The Panchayat Ghar in Kandi Galuta area, a project conceived many years ago, is yet to see the light of day due to administrative inertia.
The locals, while talking to Early Times, said, “Not only are we facing the different problems, but we are also suffering due to official apathy. The politicians as well as bureaucrats have always ignored us.
The construction of Panchayat Ghar in our village was started in 2008. Work was completed till lanter-level, but since then nothing has been done, the locals said, adding that the department has not found time and funds to complete the work since 12 years
They claimed to have taken up the issue with the higher authorities a number of times, but nothing has been done till date. “We have strong apprehensions of embezzlement of funds which were meant for the construction of the Panchayat Ghar,” they alleged.
Iftkahar Ahmed Khan, Numbardar a local resident, said that the Panchayat Ghar has not been completed till date, on one hand, the State and Centre Government are claiming that a review of works will be taken up and the general public will be heard but why did the construction work has not been completed till now.
The people of the area have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to direct the concerned department to hold an enquiry into the matter.
