Four fresh deaths push death toll due to COVID-19 in JK to 63, 179 fresh cases reported

SRINAGAR, June 15: As four more persons fell prey to the Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir in the past 24 hours the death toll due to the virus reached 63. In the meantime, 179 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported from the union territory today. Reports said that four people died due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours or so in the Kashmir valley. The fresh deaths were reported from Zaina Kadal-Srinagar, Handwara-Kupwara, Chadoora-Budgam and Shopian. Following the fresh deaths the death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory reached 63.
In the meantime, 179 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported today. Anantnag district reported 79 fresh cases followed by Shopian 19 cases, Srinagar 15 cases, Kupwara 10 cases, Pulwama eight cases, Udhampur seven cases, Jammu, Budgam, Baramulla and Samba six cases each, Ramban four cases, Kulgam, Bandipora and Reasi three cases each, Ganderbal two cases and Kathua and Kishtwar one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 179 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 29 from Jammu division and 150 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 5,220.
Moreover, 215 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 17 from Jammu Division and 198 from Kashmir Division. It said that out of 5,220 positive cases, 2,554 are active positive, 2,603 have recovered and 63 have died; seven in Jammu division and 56 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin said that Kulgam has 634 positive cases, 228 active positive, 398 recoveries, eight deaths; Anantnag district has 569 positive cases, 179 active positive, 385 recovered, five deaths; Shopian has 557 positive cases, 248 active positive, 304 recovered, five deaths; Srinagar has 539 positive cases, 367 active positive, 158 recovered, 14 deaths; Baramulla has 521 positive cases, 287 active positive, 223 recovered, 11 deaths.
“Kupwara has 407 positive cases, 114 active positive, 288 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama has 252 positive cases, 190 active positive, 60 recovered, two deaths; Budgam has 245 positive cases, 129 active positive, 112 recovered, four deaths; Bandipora has 242 positive cases, 47 active positive, 194 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 63 positive cases, nine active positive, 54 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 279 positive cases, 136 active positive, 139 recoveries, four deaths; Ramban has 199 positive cases, 142 active positive, 57 recoveries; Udhampur has 165 positive cases, 125 active positive, 39 recovered, one death; Kathua has 160 positive cases, 84 active positive, 76 recovered; Samba has 105 positive cases, 75 active positive, 30 recoveries;
“Poonch has 104 positive cases, 71 active positive, 33 recoveries; Rajouri has 66 positive cases, 53 active positive, 12 recovered, one death; Doda has 63 positive cases, 38 active positive, 24 recoveries, one death; Reasi has 27 positive cases, 16 active positive, 11 recovered and Kishtwar has 23 positive cases, 16 active positive, seven recovered,” reads the bulletin. According to the bulletin out of 5,220 positive cases, 1806 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
