Corona Virus cases cross 10000 mark in JK, 10 more persons die due to virus

SRINAGAR, July 11: Casualties due to the Corona Virus continue to mount in Jammu & Kashmir as 10 more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, 268 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today from the different districts of the union territory today.
Reports said that while three deaths were reported from Srinagar district, a death each was reported from Jammu, Baramulla, Shopian, Anantnag, Kupwara, Budgam and Ganderbal districts of the union territory. So far 169 persons have died due to COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir with Srinagar topping the list with 42 deaths closely followed by Baramulla.
In the meantime, Srinagar reported 67 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Baramulla and Kupwara with 37 cases each, Rajouri 29 cases, Kulgam 23 cases, Jammu 21 cases, Kathua 20 cases, Anantnag and Samba six cases each, Pulwama five cases, Budgam and Reasi four cases each, Udhampur and Poonch three cases each and Shopian, Ganderbal & Kishtwar one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 268 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 87 from Jammu division and 181 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 10,156. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and nine from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 109 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 14 from Jammu Division and 95 from Kashmir Division. Out of 10,156 positive cases, 4,092 are active positive, 5,895 have recovered and 169 have died; 16 in Jammu division and 153 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 45,169 test results available, 4, 35,013 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 11,254 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,650 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 36 in hospital quarantine, 4,092 in hospital isolation and 45,156 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 23,151 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1611 positive cases, 1,075 active positive, 494 recovered, 42 deaths; Baramulla has 1288 positive cases, 743 active positive, 513 recovered, 32 deaths; Kulgam has 987 positive cases, 313 active positive, 656 recovered, 18 deaths; Shopian has 888 positive cases, 198 active positive, 674 recovered, 16 deaths; Anantnag district has 781 positive cases, 175 active positive, 592 recovered, 14 deaths.
“Kupwara has 746 positive cases, 264 active positive, 473 recovered, nine deaths; Pulwama has 645 positive cases, 297 active positive, 343 recovered, five deaths; Budgam has 532 positive cases, 213 active positive, 307 recovered, 12 deaths; Bandipora has 336 positive cases, 44 active positive, 289 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 161 positive cases, 73 active positive, 86 recovered, two deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 473 positive cases, 135 active positive, 329 recovered, nine deaths; Udhampur has 301 positive cases, 53 active positive, 247 recovered, one death; Kathua has 292 positive cases, 81 active positive, 210 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 269 positive cases, 180 active positive, 88 recovered, one death; Ramban has 254 positive cases, 48 active positive, 206 recovered.
“Samba has 224 positive cases, 86 active positive, 137 recovered, one death; Poonch has 142 positive cases, 22 active positive, 119 recovered, one death; Doda has 124 positive cases, 54 active positive, 68 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 57 positive cases, 18 active positive, 39 recovered and Kishtwar has 45 positive cases, 20 active positive, 25 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 10,156 positive cases in J&K, 2,821 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
