NC leaders defy Covid-19 safety protocols
No face masks, no social distancing
7/23/2020 11:53:59 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 23: Even as Kashmir has been witnessing a spike in the number of Covid19 positive cases, the National Conference leaders including Omar Abdullah have been violating the social distancing and other related norms in the valley.
Recently Omar Abdullah and other senior leaders of the party called on Nasir Aslam Wani at his residence and during the meeting took a group photo with him.
Shockingly in the photo that has gone viral on social media, the NC leaders seen standing close to each other and none of them is wearing face masks.
The development has drawn flak from the various circles of the society especially doctors and officials.
A senior doctor said it was unfortunate on the part of the “grand old party” of sending a wrong signal in the public circles that it was all right not to wear mask during public gatherings.
What is even shocking is that Omar Abdullah led party has been saying that the government has failed to tackle the situation.
Recently the NC Member Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone issued a statement criticizing the government. “The reality is that he (MP) should have regretted that the NC leaders don’t even mind to wear masks,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile administration told Early Times that Omar Abdullah cannot be fined for not wearing mandatory face mask unless a formal complaint is filed. “No doubts not wearing mask in open amounts to offence for which they all can be fined, but the matter is that we can look into it only if we receive a formal complaint in this regard,” the official said.
Ironically the Abdullahs have been asking people to maintain social distancing but seem to be missing its implementation on their own selves like Auron Ko Nasihath, Khud Mian Fasihath!
