DDC Doda reviews implementation of Road Safety Action Plan

DODA, Sept 2: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr Sagar D Doifode today directed for conducting a comprehensive road safety audit across the district.
Chairing a meeting of District Road Safety Committee to review the implementation of Road Safety Action Plan and the action taken report on the previous directions, the DDC asked the Motor Vehicle Department to constitute Road Safety Audit Committee and submit the findings of the Committee to the DDC office within 15 days.
Directed the planning department to frame terms of references today itself covering all the important aspects on the basis of which the road safety audit committee will conduct the audit.
The DDC directed the Xen PWD Doda to conduct the road safety audit of national highway from KM 9 up to Thathri and Xen PMGSY Thathri to conduct the audit of Thathri to Gandoh road, while the Xen PWD Bhaderwah was asked to conduct the audit of Doda – Bhaderwah road.
The DDC emphasized that road safety is a matter of immense importance and enhancement of safety by way of formulating a comprehensive action plan, therefore, deserves priority attention of all the stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by District Road Safety Committee members comprising, CPO, ASP Doda, XEN R&B Doda, Bhaderwah,PMGSY Thathri, ARTO, Dy. SP Traffic CEO, CMO,EO MC Doda , Bhaderwah, Thathri besides other officers. He stressed on identifying black spots, initiating remedial measures, installation of signage, painting at appropriate black spots, generation of awareness etc for making the roads in the district safe. He also directed the ARTO Doda to formulate schedule of training on the use of RADMS application for the SHOs of the district as it is important to rectify the cause of accidents in a scientific manner.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to conduct regular checking of vehicles and sought strict action against those found violating the road safety norms.
Moreover DDC directed the ARTO to intensify checking to contain the violation of the necessary covid protection guidelines regarding transport, and submit monthly report to his Office without any fail.
The DDC also directed the CMO to conduct the compulsory testing of all the drivers at every location, and set the target of 50 tests at each location everyday and submit the compliance report on daily basis.
Regarding construction of shelter sheds alongwith the national highway, the DDC was informed by the Xen PWD Doda that 20 locations have been identified and NOC from NHIDCL is required to expedite the process in this regard. The DDC directed the CPO to immediately sent the correspondence to the GM NHIDCL for issuance of NOC on priority basis.
Earlier, ARTO Doda Er Kuldeep Singh gave a detailed power point presentation on the parameters of Road safety.
