EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Sept 2: In a bizarre case, a ration dealer in Seri Block of district Rajouri is issuing ration of Below Poverty Line (BPL) quota to non-existing beneficiaries for over decade, however, despite written complaint by concerned Sarpanch and Block Development Council (BDC) chairperson Seri to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri no actions has been taken yet. BDC Chairperson Seri Block Nena Sharma and Ramesh Chander, Sarpanch Panchyat Halqa Deeing, Seri personally submitted a written complaint to DC Rajouri naming the dealer who indulged in mal-practice of black-marketing of subsidized ration, but no action has been taken till date.
“We submitted a complaint against the ration dealer of village Kalal Jagdish Raj on July 23, 2020 to DC Rajouri, who further wrote to Assistant Director, FCS&CA Rajouri, next day the AD wrote to Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Nowshera asking him to initiate an enquiry and submit a report in two days”, said Sarpanch Ramesh Chander, adding that no further actions has been taken till date by the TSO Nowshera.
“As per the record, the concerned dealer is issuing ration against six non-existing souls. The dealer made a BPL card on the name of a physically disable man Kirpal Singh son of Lal Singh resident of Kalal and also named five other members in the ration card despite the fact, the man is still unmarried”, the Sarpanch said.
He further said that the dealer now in an attempt to save his skin, has been carrying out deletion and addition of names of beneficiaries without consulting the concerned Panchs and Sarpanch. “It is not a single case, there hundreds non-exiting beneficiaries are enrolled with the said dealer. A high level investigation from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is required to un-earth the scandal”, he said.
The whistle blower Sarpanch, who exposed the scandal loot of government ration in Kalal is allegedly receiving threats. “People who are swallowed rations meant for poor people are threatening me for exposing, I appeal to LG administration to take immediately action into the matter and also save my life”, he added.
Meanwhile, sources said same is the case in Goder Panchyat of Dhangari block of district Rajouri, where the dealer have issued BPL cards to his relatives and friends who are in government services and paying income tax. “There was only one dealer in Goder Panchyat for a long time and recently, another licensee issued to another man to cater the rush of panchyat, but the former dealer, once who ruled on several Panchayats had made his fortune by the same practices, he (dealer) own a floor mill through pilferage of government ration and has half dozen palatial houses of various areas of Rajouri and Jammu districts”, they added.
DC Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh when contact said that he would take action into these complaints.
