SRINAGAR, Sept 2: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir continues to be 77 percent over the past one week or so since the fresh cases outnumber recovered cases in a single day during the same period.
The same got proved today yet again as 641 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported while as 595 affected persons were discharged from different hospitals as well as COVID-19 centres of the union territory. With today’s fresh cases the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 38,864. The death toll due to the virus reached 732 as 15 more casualties were reported in the past 24 hours.
Jammu reported 167 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar 131 cases, Budgam 56 cases, Ganderbal 54 cases, Anantnag 30 cases, Bandipora 27 cases, Baramulla 22 cases, Kathua 19 cases, Kupwara 18 cases, Pulwama and Reasi 16 cases each, Rajouri, Samba and Poonch 14 cases each, Kulgam 11 cases, Udhampur and Doda eight cases each, Ramban and Kishtwar seven cases each and Shopian two cases.
Jammu and Ganderbal districts reported three deaths each followed by Srinagar and Kulgam two deaths each and a death each in Kathua, Udhampur, Pulwama, Anantnag and Kupwara districts. So far 657 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 75. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 225 deaths.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 641 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 274 from Jammu division and 367 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 38,864. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; five from Jammu division and 10 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 595 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 92 from Jammu Division and 503 from Kashmir Division. Out of 38,864 positive cases, 8,053 are active positive, 30,079 have recovered and 732 have died; 75 in Jammu division and 657 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 96,481 test results available, 9, 57,617 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 67,207 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 46,228 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 8,053 in isolation and 45,978 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 66,216 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,499 positive cases, 1,463 active positive, 7,811 recovered, 225 deaths; Baramulla has 2,862 positive cases, 474 active positive, 2,288 recovered, 100 deaths; Pulwama has 2,700 positive cases, 478 active positive, 2,167 recovered, 55 deaths; Budgam has 2,580 positive cases, 681 active positive, 1,837 recovered, 62 deaths; Anantnag has 2,389 positive cases, 528 active positive, 1,810 recovered, 51 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,235 positive cases, 702 active positive, 1,507 recovered, 26 deaths; Kupwara has 2,135 positive cases, 575 active positive, 1,511 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 1944 positive cases, 152 active positive, 1,755 recovered, 37 deaths; Shopian has 1,703 positive cases, 78 active positive, 1,597 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,521 positive cases, 427 active positive, 1,070 recovered, 24 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 3,576 positive cases, 1,402 active positive, 2,124 recovered, 50 deaths; Kathua has 951 positive cases, 231 active positive, 716 recovered, four deaths; Rajouri has 934 positive cases, 144 active positive, 785 recovered, five deaths; Udhampur has 849 positive cases, 163 active positive, 683 recovered, three deaths; Samba has 738 positive cases, 178 active positive, 557 recovered, three deaths.
“Ramban has 661 positive cases, 20 active positive, 640 recovered, one death; Poonch has 450 positive cases, 110 active positive, 336 recovered, four deaths; Doda has 445 positive cases, 85 active positive, 356 recovered, four deaths; Reasi has 423 positive cases, 88 active positive, 335 recovered and Kishtwar has 269 positive cases, 74 active positive, 194 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 38,864 positive cases in J&K, 6,668 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
