DDC Kathua listens to people’s issues at remote block Baggan

KATHUA, Sept 2 : To take stock of problems and demands of the people, District Development Commissioner Kathua Om Parkash Bhagat today held a public grievances redressal camp at Baggan block of Tehsil Billawar.
ADC Billawar, BDC Chairperson, XEN PWD, XEN Jal Shakti, XEN PMGSY, Tehsildar and Tehsil and Sectoral Officers were also present.
The BDC Chairperson Block Baggan Nisha Devi apprised DDC about local issues such as opening of proposed Primary Health Centre at Marhoon, early completion of PMGSY roads from Billawar to Katli and Katli to Marhoon, development of Chou as Pilgrimage and Religious Tourism spot, early restoration of PDD infra hit by recent rains, extension of SRTC bus service from Katli - Kathua- Jammu route and other demands.
After giving patient hearing to the projected demands and problems of the locals, the DDC directed XEN PMGSY and XEN PWD to expedite the road works by pressing more men and machinery for their completion within stipulated time.
Responding to the demand of shifting Ration Depot from Katli to Plai, the DDC directed AD Food to take measures for the same for public convenience. He assured that matter related to the scale of Rice will be taken up with concerned authorities.
The DDC directed CMO Kathua to take up the matter of PHC Marhoon with higher authorities to start the work at the earliest.
He assured that upgradtaion of Middle School Plai and High school Marhoon will be taken up with Education Department on priority.
Tourism department will be consulted to explore the scope of developing Chou as tourism spot with stay facilities for visitors, assured the DDC.
The DDC also called upon BDO to develop playfields in every panchayat to promote sports activities among the youth.
He also passed directions to revenue department to assess damages due to recent incessant rains and submit report within given time.
He assured the matter related to shortage of staff at Primary School Salla and Sub Centre Delieu will be taken up on priority.
The R&B, PMGSY, Power Development department and Jal Shakti departments were directed to speed up the restoration of infrastructure damaged due to recent rains.
He directed departments to organise awareness programmes about various Centrally sponsered schemes so that local can avail benefit to become self reliant.
