Include left-out villages in IB reservation list: AJKPC

RS PURA, Sept 2: All J&K Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) General Secretary and Sarpanch Panchayat Gandali of RS Pura area, Gurdeep Singh Saini urged upon the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to review the order issued by the Govt that expels several border villages from reservation to villages fall within 0 to 6 Km from along International Border (IB).
Addressing a press conference here today, Saini said that several villages near border areas despite being near the International Border have not been included in the list prepared by the government to provide special reservations to people.
“Panchayat Gandali is just 4.8 kms far from the International Border through air distance and whenever Pak violates ceasefire people of these areas are hit besides the education of students has also affected,” Gurdeep said and regretted that despite being a border village, the government has kept this Panchayat out of the list.
“Several villages far behind this mentioned Panchayat have been included in this list. There has been a big mistake on the part of administration while preparing the list,” he added.
Saini expressed resentment over exclusion of several border villages from the reserved list of International Borders under SRO 518.
Singh also raised serious concern over the problems being faced by the border dwellers due to unprovoked shelling across the International Border due to which people of the area are living a miserable life.
He said that the government has made a commitment for provide 5 Marla plots to border dwellers but nothing has been done in this regard.
“The same was also committed by Union Minister, Dr jitendra Singh regarding the provision of plots for border dwellers at safer places but there is no hope,” he said.
Saini appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and direct the concerned to include all left out villages in the reservation list which are rightfully entitled to it.
He also appealed to the Lt Governor to hold Army recruitment drives for youths living along IB. Besides this, the government should also review its decision of abolishing SHGs due to which lakhs of people who were associated with these engineers are jobless and facing severe problems as they have no other option to come on roads due to economic slowdown amid COVID-19 scare.
Among others who were present included Chairman Darshan Saini, Er Harjinder Singh, Er Sobind Singh Saini and Er Rovind Singh.
