EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sep 2: The Executive body of Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) today under the leadership of Er Sachin Tickoo, General Secretary, Er Ashok Kumar Dubey, vice-president, Er MP Singh, Provincial Secretary, Rajeshwar Jamwal, Publicity Secretary called upon Kavinder Gupta, ex-Deputy Chief Minister in connection with issues pertaining to the Engineering fraternity.
The members apprised Kavinder Gupta, about the various decisions that had been taken in the State Administrative council from time to time in respect of the various issues projected before the Government, but have not been implemented till date. Assured career progression even though having been approved in the Cabinet along with the members of Jammu Kashmir Administrative service officers and Police officers, but SRO was issued only in respect of the KAS and KPS officers and administration failed to issue SRO in respect of the Engineering fraternity even after lapse of 4 years.
The delegation also sought filling up of the vacancies at all levels in the engineering hierarchy from Junior Engineer to Chief engineer as there are currently 1 post of Managing Director ,7 posts of Chief Engineer, 9 Superintending Engineer, 39 Executive Engineer, 103 Assistant Ex.Engineer,220 Assistant Engineer vacant in the department.
The regularization process currently has been expedited by the Principal Secretary PDD and more needs to be done to bring justice to the Engineering fraternity as lot of backlog is lying to be cleared even though SAC in its order had told to complete the process within two months’ time.
Tickoo, General Secretary also brought before the notice of Kavinder Gupta about the apprehensions of the proposed privatization move initiated in respect of the Union Territories and conveyed strong resentment of the employees on the issue as the corporations have not been given an reasonable opportunity to usher in a new era of reform process and privatization at this stage is not only detrimental to the career prospects of the Engineers as well as bring miseries for the people. The members sought the implementation of the reorganization committee report accepted by the State Administrative Council at the time of unbundling the department into corporations has still not seen the light of day.
Kavinder Gupta assured the delegation that all the genuine demands raised by the JKEEGA shall be brought to the notice of the Lt. Governor for early redressal.
