| GDC Akhnoor concludes week long celebrations | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 3: The week long celebrations commemorating 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi concluded today at GDC Akhnoor.
A series of inter-college online events for 7 days were organised by the college to mark the celebrations. The celebrations started on 25th of September, where first of all a poster making competition was organised on theme “Non-violence with Nature”.
On 26th September essay writing competition was organised on theme “Gandhi’s Principles and Philosophy”. On 28th of September, a quiz competition on theme “Gandhi’s Ideology and Life” was organised. On “29th of September, a slogan writing competition was organised on theme “Truth and Non-Violence”. On 30th September, a painting competition was organised on theme “Save the environment”. On 1st of October, two events were organised simultaneously. Firstly, a cleanliness drive/SwachtaAbhiyan was organised in college involving all the teaching and non teaching staff with the purpose of creating and promoting awareness regarding clean environment and afterwards, an online webinar on theme “Celebrating 151st Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi” was organised.
On the concluding day i.e. on 2nd of October a collage making competition was organised on theme “Gandhi’s Beliefs and teachings”. Students from different colleges of Jammu have shown their interest and participation in these online events. Principal of the college also applauded the participants’ response in such online events and had also highlighted the importance of celebrating such days of national importance in educational institutions which promotes national integrity among students. All the participants of these online events were awarded with e-certificates. The events were coordinated by Dr.Aksa Rao, HOD English and Prof. Sonia Bhau, HOD Commerce.
