Cracks widen in Peoples Conference
10/3/2020 11:34:10 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 3: While the Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone has expelled senior leader Junaid Mattoo from the party, the development has widened the cracks within the party.
Sources said Sajad is not enjoying good terms with some of his party leaders and that there was possibility that some of the leaders from the party may join “rebel group.”
Sources said some of the leaders in question are accused of indiscipline in the party and are also accused of having spoiled the image of the party by indulging in anti-party activities.
Sources said such leaders were recently summoned by PC to clarify their position but that the former declined to respond.
“They did not bother to clarify positon despite serious charges levelled against them. This means something is cooking up. Otherwise how can a party leader stay away from party,” said a PC leader on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the behavior of the said leaders suggests that they would not stay back with the party. It was reliably learnt that Sajad has inputs that the said leaders were in touch with other political parties. Sources said there was a likelihood that some of them may quit the party in the coming days.
“Their recent absence from PC meetings suggests that they are no more interested to stay back in the party but may look for alternatives,” said a PC leader.
It is pertinent to mention that unlike National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party, the PC has not been able to hold any major activity or rally in Kashmir for the last over a year.
“Sajad would look at himself as alternative to Abdullahs and Muftis but his party is finally silent due to internal issues,” said one politician.
Sources said the PC is planning to call an executive body meeting in the coming days to decide the future course of action and how to carry on.
Despite repeated attempts Sajad Lone or his party colleagues couldn’t be contacted comments.
