RAJOURI, Oct 3: Principal Secretary Social Welfare and Information & Technology, Bipul Pathak on Saturday visited Panchayat Rehtal in connection with Back to Village program and held interaction with the PRI members and general public to assess the local developmental needs and listen to the people’s issues.
The visiting officer chaired a gram Sabha in which people from all sections of the society participated and projected the issues and demands regarding the development of the area. They sought augmentation of water and power supply; improvement in health and education system, better road connectivity, sanctioning of Anganwadi centres for uncovered areas and up-gradation of schools to next level.
The visiting officer gave a patient hearing and said that the UT administration is committed to provide all the basic facilities at the doorsteps of the common masses so that they don't have to visit the Government offices for getting their problems redressed.
He assured the public that their demands and issues have been documented and they shall be redressed at the earliest with the intervention of the concerned departments.
Pathak highlighted the objectives of Back to village programme saying that it is aimed at energizing Panchayats and expediting need based development in rural areas through community participation.
He said that J&K Government’s unique Back to village program has revived the idea of governance and rejuvenated the spirit of public services.
The Principal Secretary said that this is one more move in the direction of strengthening grassroots level democracy. “The Government will continue to organise more such public welfare programmes to mitigate sufferings of the people and to ensure smooth delivery of the essential services at their doorsteps.
The visiting officer also inspected a number of works being executed by different departments including those under MGNREGA and 14 FC etc in the Panchayat. He also took stock of the essential services being provided to the common masses and directed the field functionaries to put in place extra efforts to streamline service delivery for the betterment of the people.
The public present on the occasion praised the fruitful step of the LG administration and appealed for continuing this process of connecting with the rural population to fulfill their developmental needs.
