10/3/2020 11:18:58 PM
Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: Research scholar and social activist Parduman Singh lambasted CEO Udhampur Council for transferring Rs 50 lakhs to the Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, depriving the people of Udhampur town from development.
Briefing media persons here today, Singh expressed surprised that it was a great matter of concern that Municipal Council Udhampur has transferred such a huge amount to the Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, reasons best known to him.
Singh asserted that there is already several development works are pending due to lacks of funds. Instead of arranging funds for development funds for Municipal Council Udhampur, the aforesaid CEO has transferring the allotted funds to ULB Jammu, terming it as highly objectionable and condemnable.
“The Municipal Council Udhampur is not in a position to take up the planned developmental works in the town and is facing difficulty to pay wages of causal labour and maintenance of vehicles,” he said and objected that the aforesaid funds should be used for other purposes for Udhampur town.
The lanes and drains are in deplorable conditions, street lights are defunct, people are not getting potable water supply, he said, adding that residents of Udhampur town are facing problems just due to lack of funds.
Singh said that the daily wagers who are working in the Municipal Council, Udhampur are not getting wages on time due to officers sitting at the helm of affairs, adding that as several development works are in pipeline and the same not been able to start due to funds scarcity. He maintained that for the long time the officials of Municipal Council were involved in diversion of funds without any certain reasons.
Singh appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to hold probe in this matter so that truth prevails and people should know about the reason for transferring the funds.
