UDHAMPUR, Nov 9: District Industries Centre, Udhampur in collaboration with the GeM, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India today organized a Webinar cum Training Programme for MSME unit holders for registration on GeM portal at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur .
While welcoming all the participants, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, who is also holding the additional charge as General Manager, DIC, apprised that it is now mandatory for all the Government offices/establishments to make purchases from GeM platform and highlighted the advantages of GeM registration.
Elaborating more on the subject, he highlighted that as per General Financial Rules 2017, it is mandatory for all Government Departments to purchase products and services from GeM. So it becomes equally important for the intended sellers who want to sell their products to Government Departments throughout the country to get themselves registered on GeM portal. He informed that the portal is transparent and payments shall be made to sellers in stipulated time period. He added that the sellers can join in any bidding all over the country on competitive rates and can explore the market on PAN India. He also emphasized to the Industrial Association IID Centre Battal Ballian and Chamber of Commerce Udhampur to come forward and motivate their associate MSME members/business establishments to join GeM.
Besides, Deepesh Gehlot, Director GeM and Kush Tyagi expert on GeM joined from Chandigarh through Webmail to impart the training for getting registration on the GeM portal.
The participants were also made aware regarding benefits of GeM, process of getting themselves registered and further steps needed to be taken for selling their end products and services to the buyers registered on GeM. GeM is a one stop Government e-market place hosted by DGS&D. GeM is dynamic, self sustaining and a user friendly environment for buying/selling by Government Departments. Departments like Handloom and Handicrafts can make their weavers and artisans register on GeM who can then sell their artistic products all over the country.
Major advantages of GeM for sellers include direct access to all Government Departments, One stop shop for bids / reverse auctioning on products / services, Dynamic pricing, Vendor rating system, new product suggestion facility for sellers, Seller friendly dashboard for selling and monitoring of supplies and payments, and regular new products categories on GeM. Meanwhile, GeM also ensures the registered MSMEs/vendors to get the timely payments from Departments against their supplies & services rendered. The Departments can purchase directly on GeM upto Rs 25000, and above 25000 to 5 lacs, L1 is to be considered. Above 5 lacs, bidding is mandatory on e portal.
For purchase from MSME, there are various benefits of GeM as per Public Procurement policy for MSMEs viz. Policy mandates 25 percent procurement of goods and services from MSMEs, Tenders are free of cost, Purchase Preferences, etc. Vendors with UDYAM registration can get themselves directly registered on GeM. The registration process is online, simple and requires basic documents like Aadhaar No., PAN, Bank Account details etc. Moreover no separate registration is required for seller and service provider.
