Tractor rally: Cong ‘humiliates’ OBC leader
11/10/2020 12:00:28 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 9: A day before the party is going to organize a protest against atrocities on women and Dalits in BJP ruled states, duplicity of Congress in treating weaker sections has been exposed on Monday when party’s Other Backward Classes (OBC) leader was not allowed to sit on the stage during a tractor rally at R S Pura.
Enraged over inhuman treatment meted out to chairman OBC Department, Advocate Suresh Dogra, a large number of OBC leaders of the party have announced to boycott the party for ill-treating leaders of weaker sections. Congress is going hold a protest on Tuesday against atrocities on women and Dalits but party’s own leaders humiliated their own OBC leaders on Monday. According to eye-witnessing, Suresh Dogra was sitting on the stage along with other leaders of the party during the tractor rally at R S Pura in which AICC general secretary, Rajni Patil was chief guest. A senior Congress leader, who was acting as stage secretary, repeatedly asked Suresh Dogra to come down from the state despite the fact that many junior leaders were sitting on the stage.
“It is all due to caste prejudice that upper caste leaders could not digest that a OBC leader is sharing stage with other leaders so the OBC leader was humiliated and insulted and forced to come down of the state”, alleged Raj Kumar Mehra, Jagdish Raj Mehra, Som Nath Verma, Abhishek Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Prabodh Jasyal , Showkat Ali and Haji Abdullah.
Abhishek Kumar, Media Coordinator OBC Deptt. Pradesh Congress Committee warned, “We will not tolerate the humiliation meted out to our leaders and we will organize a press conference to expose caste prejudice leaders”.
Sources said that recently the OBC wing of the party has become pro-active during the last some months because BJP has failed to fulfill promises made with this section. Large numbers of OBCs have joined Congress because there is a feeling among this section that BJP has backstabbed them because promises regarding implementation of Mandal Commission report is yet to be fulfilled.
