Kishtwar, Nov 9: With the announcement of District Development Council polls in Jammu and Kashmir political parties are trying their best to woo voters and supporters of other political formations into their own fold.
In one such joining function of a Congress backed woman Sarpanch from Kither Panchayat of Bhunzwah block in Kishtwar District joined BJP. This was followed by a few government employees also joining the BJP. They were welcomed into the party fold by a senior party leader from BJP Muslim Morcha Tariq Hussain Keen and his brother.
As per the details available with “Early Times” the issue of government employees joining the BJP came to fore after BJP local leaders released the photographs of joining wherein a teacher posted at High School Kither along with another teacher posted as ZRP in Drabshala Education Zone and local lambardar were seen garlanded with flowers by the BJP leaders welcoming them in party fold alongside the woman Sarpanch Husna Begum who switched loyalty from Congress to BJP and could be a probable BJP candidate for DDC constituency Bhunzwah which is reserved for Schedule Tribe (Women).
Beside the two teachers and the lambardar, another teacher who is said to be the husband of the Sarpanch also joined the BJP along with social Forestry Department employee.
In the video available with “Early Times”, the woman Sarpanch could be heard taking the oath of her faith that she will remain loyal to the BJP after switching sides.
When contacted Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik told this newspaper that an explanation has been sought from the concerned employees. “Whatever action is required to be taken under Model Code of Conduct, will be taken to ensure free and fair elections,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention that J&K Government has announced 8 phase DDC and Panchayat elections for vacant seats with voting for first phase being slated for 28-11-2020 and last phase on 19-12-2020 with Bhunzwah block going for polls on 4-12-2020.
