SRINAGAR, Dec 30: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 217 new cases of Corona Virus today following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 20,744. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,880 as one death was reported from Jammu division.
Jammu district reported 77 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 48 cases, Baramulla and Samba districts 19 cases each, Budgam district 11 cases, Anantnag district eight cases, Doda district five cases, Pulwama and Kathua districts four cases each, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Udhampur and Rajouri districts three cases each, Kupwara, Shopian, Poonch and Ramban districts two cases each and Kulgam & Reasi districts one case each.
Jammu district in the Jammu division reported one virus related death in the past 24 hours. So far 1,185 virus related deaths have taken place in the Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 695 people have lost their lives to the virus up to this date.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 217 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 116 from Jammu division and 101 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir to 1, 20,744. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division.
Moreover, 270 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 128 from Jammu division and 142 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 20,744 positive cases, 3,034 are active positive, 1, 15,830 have recovered and 1,880 have died; 695 in Jammu division and 1,185 in Kashmir division.
Out of 37, 92,251 test results available, 36, 71,507 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 81,601 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 12,885 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,034 in isolation and 30,845 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 32,957 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,264 positive cases, 565 active positive, 24,250 recovered, 449 deaths; Baramulla has 7,950 positive cases, 114 active positive, 7,664 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,593 positive cases, 153 active positive, 7,332 recovered, 108 deaths; Pulwama has 5,535 positive cases, 184 active positive, 5,263 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,519 positive cases, 124 active positive, 5,304 recovered, 91 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,782 positive cases, 101 active positive, 4,598 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,643 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4530 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,462 positive cases, 77 active positive, 4,342 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,658 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,541 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,495 positive cases, 93 active positive, 2,364 recovered, 38 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,726 positive cases, 846 active positive, 22,525 recovered, 355 deaths; Udhampur has 4,079 positive cases, 69 active positive, 3,953 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,835 positive cases, 177 active positive, 3,604 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,385 positive cases, 56 active positive, 3,266 recovered, 63 deaths; Kathua has 3,186 positive cases, 60 active positive, 3,078 recovered, 48 deaths.
“Samba has 2,744 positive cases, 172 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 38 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,717 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,675 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,444 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,397 recovered, 23 deaths; Ramban has 2,103 positive cases, 31 active positive, 2,051 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,624 positive cases, 50 active positive, 1,559 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 20,744 positive cases in J&K, 11,265 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
