Dir Horticulture flags off group of orchardists for training

JAMMU, Dec 30: Director Horticulture, Jammu, Ram Sevak, today flagged off a group of 14 orchardists to Farmers Training Institute, Ramban for 3-day training under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) -ATMA scheme.
The Director Horticulture interacted with the orchardists and impressed upon them to learn the latest horticulture techniques at Advance Centre of Horticulture Development, Ramban.
Meanwhile, the Director Horticulture handed over a tractor and one power tiller to the beneficiaries under different schemes.
He also inaugurated Facilitation-cum-Sale Centre of fruit plants and value added products at Horticulture Complex and visited Govt. Fruit Plant Nursery, Badolla and inspected various ongoing works. He also inaugurated one month training on Fruit & Vegetable preservation at Balnagar, Jib in which 40 women shall be imparted one month training in the art of fruit & vegetable preservation.
Later, the Director Horticulture visited different orchards in Majalta Block at Sarial Chowa, Sundla & Plesar. At Sarial Chowa village, the Director Horticulture inspected Nimboo Plantations in an area of 10.00 ha, which will be developed as “Lime Village”.
He also inspected ongoing works of Mali Hut and Fencing Work at Mansar and inaugurated Facilitation-cum Sale Centre at Mansar.
Salil Kumar Gupta, Chief Horticulture Officer; Udhampur, Vikas Anand, Chief Canning Instructor, Jammu; S Satvir Singh, District Level-SMS (Pomology); Revti Raman Sharma, District Level-SMS (Plant Pathology) and others accompanied the Director Horticulture during the tour.
