Union Budget lacks direction, roadmap for employment: Congress
2/1/2021 10:48:26 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 1: Rejecting the Union Budget-2021, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) said that it has neglected and dismayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the budget which otherwise lacked the required direction and any roadmap to create better job opportunities and boost the economy in the wake of minus economic growth faced by the country
Reacting to the budget proposals, JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma termed the budget as directionless which brought no cheers to the common people especially the Youth, students, the farmers and the labour class who suffered a lot due to worst economic slowdown and the covid situation. There are no effort to boost the rural economy and create job opportunities in the wake of large scale unemployment and retrenchments in the recent years due to wrong economic policies of BJP government coupled with covid situation.
There is no respite from the ever increasing prices of all commodities of common use and unprecedented price hike of petrol, diesel despite drastic fall in the rates of crude oil in international market.
The youth and students had lot of hopes on this budget but neither any direction to boost jobs nor any major thrust on education, as the education budget is just 3.26 percent against the need of six percent in view of huge loss to studies.
The Jammu and Kashmir seems to have been forgotten by the finance minister in this budget and there is no focus on the most badly affected people of this troubled part who have been facing worst economic slowdown due to the various kinds of changes brought by the BJP government in last one and half years. Whereas the priority seemed to be more towards the poll bound states for political benefits.
The youth, students as well as the trade, transport and tourism, of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered more than any other part of the country, during the last one and half years of uncertain circumstances and security atmosphere, coupled with covid, when they were deprived of high speed internet facilities, but the budget ignored this aspect and lacked initiative to address the situation.
