Jammu shows way in COVID-19 management as 8 districts report no fresh case; 44 new cases in UT

SRINAGAR, Feb 1: The Jammu division is showing significant progress in COVID-19 management as eight districts of the division reported no fresh case in the past 24 hours even though 44 new cases came to the fore. Following the fresh cases the number of positive cases rose to 1, 24,550.
Srinagar district reported 15 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district seven cases, Pulwama district four cases, Budgam, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Shopian districts three cases each, Anantnag district two cases and Baramulla, Bandipora, Kulgam & Ramban districts one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 44 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), eight from Jammu division and 36 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,550.
Moreover, 83 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 19 from Jammu division and 64 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,550 positive cases, 709 are active positive, 1, 21,905 have recovered and 1,936 have died; 721 in Jammu division and 1,215 in Kashmir division.
Out of 45, 62,133 test results available, 44, 37,583 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 28,787 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,497 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 709 in isolation and 98,571 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 93,074 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,227 positive cases, 214 active positive, 25,557 recovered, 456 deaths; Baramulla has 8,119 positive cases, 41 active positive, 7,904 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,771 positive cases, 34 active positive, 7,620 recovered, 117 deaths; Pulwama has 5,724 positive cases, 52 active positive, 5,584 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,662 positive cases, 31 active positive, 5,536 recovered, 95 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,905 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,767 recovered, 85 deaths; Bandipora has 4,693 positive cases, 22 active positive, 4,610 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,619 positive cases, 51 active positive, 4,522 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,696 positive cases, 26 active positive, 2,616 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,573 positive cases, 28 active positive, 2,506 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,971 positive cases, 71 active positive, 24,529 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,203 positive cases, 24 active positive, 4,122 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,868 positive cases, four active positive, 3,809 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,432 positive cases, four active positive, 3,364 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,254 positive cases, three active positive, 3,199 recovered, 52 deaths.
“Samba has 2,830 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,776 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,500 positive cases, 32 active positive, 2,444 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,133 positive cases, three active positive, 2,109 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,638 positive cases, one active positive, 1,622 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,550 positive cases in J&K, 11,704 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
